Character information
Name: Clara Bernado Rivera Seville.
Age: Technically 63. Appears to be in her late fifties.
Date of Birth: August 2, 1951. Passed away in 1998.
Canon: Original.
Species: Ghost.
Role:
Her loyalties are with other Ghosts and the Redbright Institute. Mostly out of sympathy, knowing there are other spirits like her by themselves, and out of affection and correlation since Redbright is housing her granddaughter there.
She could make a good spy if someone could persuade her to such a role, making her believe that it'll be for a cause that will help many. She certainly has all the makings of a good guide and protector for someone or a group even. Ever vigilant, careful, and, most importantly of all, invisible to many -- Clara has a lot of potential for that.

Background:
Supplement history can be found here. Poor health has plagued Clara’s family for a long while and she was no exception. After a long and happy life with her husband and her children, including now a beautiful granddaughter who was barely a year old, Clara fell sick and couldn’t really recover. For some reason Clara didn’t move on when she passed away that sunny afternoon. When she closed her eyes and took her final breath – She found herself standing up, her cooling body nearby as her family grieved. Before she could get her bearings a Door suddenly appeared before her. It took her a second to realize why the Door made her feel so eerie. It looked a lot like the front door of her small home back in the Philippines, the one where she lived with her mother and father. She shook her head, refusing to go anywhere near it, and watched with wide eyes as it disappeared as if it was never there. She was now officially a ghost. There are times she wonders if she should have just gone through the door. Clara was forced to watch her family fall apart after her death, unable to really do anything since she had no clue what she could or couldn’t do at the time. Her older son and Maja died a year later in an airplane crash and her younger son ran away in grief. Francisco was forced to raise Magra by himself. Sometimes the two didn’t get along, getting into frequent fights and squabbles that broke Clara’s heart. The most she could do was sit besides a sleeping Magra at night, singing songs she’ll never hear or follow Francisco around their home and talk to him about her simple days in the apartment, her attempts to control her powers and learn her limitations, and quaint little things like that. In 2012, Clara learned that Magra was a metahuman. Having faint prophetic abilities that could be something more if she learned to hone them in, her granddaughter’s abilities were noticed by the outreach program of Redbright Institute. Someone realised her skills after watching her swindle people at cards during the weekends at the park near Francisco’s workplace and they just so happen to be a metahuman. After discussing this at length with her and then to Francisco, with Clara nearby, Magra was soon enrolled into the institute at the age of fifteen, living in the student quarters provided there since it was a much better option than what Francisco could afford by himself. Both Clara and Magra (almost) think that this is for the best. Since her husband passed away some time in the past, properly passing on unlike her, Clara has found herself adrift and wonders what she can do next. The apartment complex she haunts is now a trendy little coffee shop since the early 2000s and Magra her has own life now, with friends and everything, and she can’t help but feel a little lost on what to do with her unlife. |
Personality:
Even at a young age Clara had a frightening amount of patience and good will in her. She's a pacifist to the very core, refusing to think of violence as the answer and being downright unhappy with the idea of using fighting/harm to answer problems. She can be very passive as a result, seen as indecisive and unwilling to commit which is far from the case. It just so happens that she’s not a believer of using force. Calm, cool, and collected, her easy temperament was essential when growing up in her life and when raising two headstrong boys and a stubborn husband. It takes a lot to get her angry and even then it'll be the quiet short of anger, refusing to speak to you or discuss what on earth is wrong. At the same time, she does not tolerate anyone attempting to belittle or mock her loved ones, drawing a line to such maliciousness if a person tries to say rude or disrespectful things about them. She keeps her head bowed when someone aims at her but raises it up and refuses to look down when she protests against the same treatment for someone she cares for. A bit difficult to do now she’s a spirit but she’ll find a way. Because when it comes to intelligence, she isn't dumb. Goodness gracious that isn't the case at all. While she isn't the one to go if you need a hand in math or sciences, her knowledge all stems from what she believes are more practical things to know in life like cooking, sewing, doing laundry, and paying bills. Clara is sensible and cautious, knowing when to not jump headlong into things if they are out of depth that is a lot of things since entering the territories of being a spirit stuck in the realm of the living. She's maternal to a fault. There's a very soft spot towards the youth, especially teenagers and younger ones, thanks to being both a mother and a grandmother short as the latter stint may have been for her. She’ll always try to have a nice word for people, wanting to believe in good for others. Not because she’s naïve. Simply because she’s optimistic and thinks it isn’t fair to judge someone right off the bat. Even if they make her vaguely uncomfortable or give a bad impression to her, she’ll continue being nice and quaint. Clara, at the end of the day, is a good person trying to do good things because she still can. Why shouldn’t she? |
Powers & Possessions:
As a ghost, she does all the things one will think a ghost can do: She's invisible most times but can manifest in front of others, mostly those of the supernatural variety, and can phase through walls but interact with objects when she focuses on it and only it long enough. Having been around for almost eighteen years, she's managed to harness her powers even if her emotional state can make it difficult to keep it even nor is she powerful enough to ignore effects of magic on her. It's just a better grasp of what she can do is all. Teleporting is much easier for her, but even she still has trouble getting across the River Thames to this day, and her telekinesis is much stronger so things she throws can now pack a deliberate punch. Her abilities relating to humans -- experiencing what they feel, being able to possess them, haunt them, and sap their energy away -- is also not as refined as she does not like to use them often. It just seems wrong to meddle or control them like that. One of her greatest weaknesses at the moment is not having an anchor she can access easily. With her only blood relation, her granddaughter, studying in Redbright Institute, trying to get a semblance of a normal life at the moment, Clara has little to no interest causing more drama for her granddaughter and leaves her be. As a result it causes her to be weaker in terms of power and her temperament has the ability to being more mercurial. |

Pins and Needles
Located in Harrow,Pins and Needles is a lovely and semi-popular dress shop that happens to be run by a Seelie, who goes by the name Mrs. Lotus. Thanks to her strong affinity with cloth, her outfits are always a hit with fashionistas. It's also a place where Seelies, even outcast Sseelies, can go if they wish to find a quiet hideaway from the humans.
It's only open during the winter months for everyone since Mrs. Lotus is not as busy with Court dealings. During the summer, one needs to make an arrangement with Mrs. Lotus to see her for a fitting. Unless you're a Seelie. Seelies are always welcomed there.
Coffeers' Shop
Located in Harrow,Coffeers is a trendy little coffee shop that has been around for some time. Around the mid 2000s at best. Originally an apartment building, it was bought by a company when it was shut down due to undisclosed reasons and was soon renovated into the coffee shop that it is popularly known today.
Haunted by Clara Seville, as she passed away there when it was still an apartment building in the 1990s, it is best known for its Espresso Bombs, espresso bombs made from espresso itself, that they sell during the finals week of schools. Also the fact the shop is occasionally invaded by budding Ghostbusters and mediums who have heard of reports about the hauntings found here.
